(Because my lawyer, XXX ESQUIRE, Al Gelbard, is amazing, and doesn’t overcharge his clients! Thank you, Al. You rock.) I am raising $2000 just to be on the safe side. And, this money needs to be in hand ASAP. The deadline for this round is…ASAP!

Lasara, the law is on your side. I told Oz that piracy issues are becoming a full-time job. I don’t see how someone can just step in and steal your Pagan identity any more than they could do it to your mundane identity. It’s a crime–period.
Let us know what we can do best to help you keep the rights to your name and products.
Also, if you currently have any books in print right now, see if that publisher has someone to deal with legal issues who can help. It’s their investment too and they may be helpful.

I got a nice note from Sandra Weschke in response to my appeal. They are supportive, and are contributing to Lasara’s legal fund, but they really only deal with copyright issues and direct plagiarism of the book itself. This trademark thing is way outta their arena. It’s legally complicated. But Lasara has a great lawyer, and the money is coming in for his retainer.

Morning Glory and I have known Lasara since she was an infant, and we are her honorary “Aunt & Uncle” who love her and her daughters very much. She stayed here at RavenHaven last night, and told us in anguish and disbelief of this outrageou
s situation, in which one Annamaria Pope in the LA area has filed for trademarks on Lasara’s signature title, workshops, merchandising, etc. of Lasara’s best-selling book, “Sexy Witch.”
Lassara has a great trademark attorney she’s known for decades who is willing to take this on, but the deadline for filing a contest is immanent, and she needs to have $1,500 for a retainer by this Wednesday. She already has $400 towards this, and though we can ill-afford it, I have committed to making up the difference by that date if necessary. So I am asking all of my FB friends and others to please hit Lasara’s “donate” button on her site to make a contribution to the cause of truth, justice, and the Pagan Way!
Also, as soon as Lasara gets me this Annamaria Pope’s contact info, I will urge everyone I know to write, phone, and email this woman to demand she stop this nonsense. “Sexy Witch” belongs to Lasara, who conceived and created the term and concept years ago in her wonderful book of that title. And if this “Pope” tries to steal it from her, she (and her publisher and attorney) needs to hear from the Wiccan/Pagan community that we won’t stand for it! A massive protest campaign will ensue!
Witches have always had a bad history with Popes…
